The Filmmaker Sessions

As we are all on lockdown at home, this shouldn’t stop us from watching films together. So Raindance is bringing you The Filmmaker Sessions. Each week, a Raindance film will be made available on our website, and we will host a Q&A or presentation by the filmmakers every Friday on Instagram. In this film club, you will be able to join us and ask the filmmakers all your questions about independent filmmaking. You will be able to re-watch the Q&A and the film for the following week. Join us for The Filmmaker Sessions.

Session 9: Melody Makers (Q&A Friday 3rd July 8pm on Raindance Instagram)

The film Melody Makers is available to watch on this page from below for three days. There will be a Q&A with director Leslie-Ann Coles, hosted by Tayba Mason the curator of Raindance Sonic at 8pm UK time on Friday 3rd July over on the Raindance Instagram page.

MELODY MAKERS captures the birth of music journalism during the zeitgeist of rock ‘n’ roll when rock was in its infancy and Barrie Wentzell, Chief Contributing Photographer of Melody Maker magazine (1965-1975), and his colleagues had unprecedented access to the musicians during this historic period.

This documentary takes you behind the scenes to explore the myths, honour the legends and reveal the incredible stories and never-before-seen photographs of rock giants Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix, Ray Davies, Frank Zappa, Patti Smith and many others.
