Raindance Alumni Starts Feature - Raindance

the-students-of-springfield-streetHi Elliot,

Hope this email finds you well.

20 years ago, you brought one of your first 2-day film making classes to Liverpool which was at the BlueCoat Chambers. There was a small group of us, about 10 and you took us through what is now your 2-day lo-no budget filmmaking course. I remember walking away with a large paper binder full of newspaper articles, clippings, examples of how to make a lo-no budget feature film back then for very little money. I remember we talked about the no budget films such a El Mariachi, which I then went and bought on VHS straight after the course. I was hooked. I still remember a lot of the teaching from that course. Sayings like “I have a number of projects in various stages of production”, loosely translated as, I have loads of ideas on scraps of paper!!! From 20 years ago, its still inspiring.

The reason for the email is to let you know, that even after 20 years, the principles I believe still ring true. Its been a long journey for me, but at last, I am putting my teachings into place and start my debut feature film this coming Saturday. We are shooting for 23 days in and around Glasgow, on two RED EPIC cameras, leica lenses, professional digital sound, makeup, actors for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, costumes, locations, travel and food, all for the sum of £4,300 which is very liberating. The £4,300 was raise through crowd funding on BloomVC.

I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you and I hope that in a shorter time period than the last 20 years, I can show you what I have achieved over these next few weeks.
