Kurban won the Christie Award at the National Film and Television School, where he produced over ten short films, including an international co-production with Oscar winning production company Breakthru Films.
Some have screened regularly at major international festivals and won major awards including SPLIT SCREEN: A LOVE STORY which received over 3m hits online and Time Magazine voted in the top ten viral videos of 2011. He recently co-produced the 2014 BAFTA nominated short ORBIT EVER AFTER and animation award winner BATHS.
In 2010 Kurban completed Magic Light/Skillset producer placement scheme, an accelerated program for producers. That was followed by feature film GINGER & ROSA with renowned filmmaker Sally Potter, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2012 and was nominated for 3 BIFAs. After working with Warp Films, he worked Pulse Films on their feature film slate, firstly line producing WHO IS DAYANI CRISTAL? winner of the Cinematography Award at Sundance 2013, then WHEN BJORK MET ATTENBOROUGH, a documentary for Channel 4, and 20,000 DAYS ON EARTH which recently premiered at Sundance 2014. His latest film THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS premiered at SXSW in 2014 to five star reviews and he is currently in production in two new feature films.
