After graduating from East 15 with an MA in Filmmaking, Kate Shenton dedicated herself to making independent films. Her first short film ‘Bon Appetite’ premiered at Fright Fest and went on to enjoy international film festival success. Her other short films, ‘Gimp’ and ‘Baby Face’ screened at festivals such as Slamdance, Raindance, Encounters and London Short Film Festival. In 2011 Kate made a short documentary called ‘On Tender Hooks’, which followed freak show magician Damien Lloyd-Davies as he was about to undergo his first human suspension. The film went on to achieve huge international success, screening at over 30 film festivals. From this Kate decided to turn the project into a feature length documentary. Armed with only a Canon 600d and a 13 inch MacBook Pro with Final Cut, Kate spent a year following people within the suspension community both in the UK and abroad.
Once completed, the feature length ‘On Tender Hooks’ had it’s international premier at PiFan Film Festival in South Korea, its UK premiere at Fright Fest and is now gaining distribution deals from around the world. Kate is currently working on her next feature length film, a cannibalistic, horror comedy called ‘Bloody Burrito’.
