unnamedIndependent film is thriving in Poland. Don’t believe us? At the 2013 Raindance Film Festival, we launched our first ever Polish Film Strand, working alongside the Polish Cultural Institute, in which a collection of six independent Polish films were selected to highlight the incredibly talented filmmakers across the nation. If you missed last year’s festival, don’t panic because it’s time for the 12th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival! Kinoteka is a five week celebration of Polish cinema, music, and visual arts, which will take place  from 24th April to 30th May across various venues in London. Across the festival’s 5-week span, Kinoteka’s impressive programme includes selections from new Polish cinema, Polish cinema classics, documentary screenings, and various talks, workshops and exhibitions.

Kinoteka’s Opening Night Gala will feature a screening of the award winning Papusza followed by a Q&A with director Joanna Kos-Krauze and actress Jowita Budnik at the Riverside Studios on 24th April.

So, Independent film lovers, get on out there and explore the wonderful world that is Polish cinema at Kinoteka! We hope you’ll be back for more in the fall for the next Polish Strand at the 2014 Raindance Film Festival.
