Had A Busy August? Hottest 5 Posts Last Month - Raindance

OMG School’s back. Where did the summer go?

And today, the first of September is Labour day in Canada or Labor day in the US of A. A weekend of BBQ’s, music festivals and friends before the Autumnal grind sets in.

Here at Planet Raindance we’ve been sweating through the August day prepping for this year’s 22nd Raindance Film Festival.

Last week, Elisar held a press conference for Britain’s only web fest: why, the Raindance Web fest. You can see the announcement here courtesy of Daily Motion.

Last month we published 22 new articles on our website – many from you. Why don’t you write one? Here’s the brief. we had fewer visits last month – summer hols I suppose – only 282,576 people visited. If you did write an article, quite a few people would see it.

I wanted to make sure you haven’t missed out on some of the most read posts and hotly anticipated coming events. Our number 2 page was for festival submissions: over 22,000 people read that this month – but as submissions are now closed, I won’t be including that one.

Take a peek and catch up!

And I hope to see your comment on Twitter or Facebook, or see you at a Raindance event soon.

Yours in filmmaking,
Elliot Grove

1. Five Things You Might Not Have Known About Robin Williams

5 Things we didnt know about Robin WilliamsHardly a surprise that this was a top page. we were all as shocked as you were when news of his tragic passing hit the news.

One good thing that has come is the focus on depression and other forms of mental health.

2. Our fabulous Interns

For the 2nd month in a row these 2 articles written by our interns went viral and between them counted over 85,,000 reads alone. The first, 15 Things Everyone Does On A Film Set was hilarious, I thought, and has prompted many a comment, tweet and message. The 2nd, 10 Things Never To Do On A Film Set was written by Orestes Koussof, our marketing director based on his experience on the set of Deadly Virtues, our Raw Talent production last year.

3. My First 100 Days As A Filmmaker

OK. I’m a conceited ego-maniac with delusions of grandeur! Here’s what I wish I had done on my first 100 days as a filmmaker. Of course you can benefit from 100% of my hindsight and my hundreds of mistakes.

4. Don’t lose your precious work

The controversial films our brilliant selectors sometimes chose means that our website often comes under service denial attacks. we also get hacked through Word Press plugins as happened in the middle of the month when we were offline for three important days. I finally put together all the stuff I have earned into an article. Hope it helps.

A filmmakers guide to being hacked.

The 3rd most visited posts are about our revolutionary Postgraduate Film Degree, our Open Classes and Fast Track incubator programme.

Our first dozen MA students graduate later this month, and we are so proud of them and their work.

* and new this month are Live Online Classes from Raindance LA!

5. 28 Films You Can Watch In The Time You Eat Lunch

16 short films that launched careersNo real surprise here, as everyone seems to like watching movies.

Here’s a stellar collection of shorts ranging from 15 seconds to 15 minutes. Have we forgetten a favourite short of yours? Do me a favour and add it into the contents box below.

OK, so there you have it.
