Rachel Portman

 

Rachel Portman (OBE) is a British composer and the first female composer to win an Academy Award, which she received for her score to Mirimax’s Emma. She has received two further Academy nominations for The Cider House Rules and Chocolat – which also earned her a Golden Globe nomination – as well as an EMMY Award for her score to HBO’s Bessie. Her other credits include Life is Sweet, Never Let Me Go, Grey Gardens (2009),The Duchess, Infamous, Benny & Joon, The Joy Luck Club, The Manchurian Candidate, The Lake House, Belle, One Day, Mona Lisa Smile, The Human Stain, and most recently Race, Their Finest, and DreamWorks’ A Dog’s Purpose.
