Personal branding has become the hot topic amongst filmmakers and creatives. Learn how to define your distinctive voice. NJ Simmonds and Elliot Grove discuss the effort necessary to create and influence public perception of your creative self, elevate your artistic value, and differentiate yourself from the competition in order to accelerate your career.

This event is part of the Emerging Filmmakers’ Day, a full day of completely free events, available around the world for filmmakers who are at the start of their careers, full of practical tips to help you take the next steps towards a successful career.

NJ Simmonds

Fantasy author N J Simmonds began her career in glossy magazines, then went on to manage marketing campaigns for big brands before going freelance. In 2015 she co-founded online magazine The Glass House Girls and has since contributed to various online and print publications. As well as being the author of fantasy series The Indigo Chronicles (BHC Press), she also writes Manga comics and is one half of paranormal romance author duo Caedis Knight.

When Natali’s not working on stories about London, complex women, magic and adventure, she runs her own storytelling consultancy and lectures corporate storytelling and self-branding. Originally from North London, with Spanish parentage, she now lives in the Netherlands with her husband and two daughters.

Elliot Grove, Founder of Raindance

define your distinctive voice

Few people know more screenwriters, directors and filmmakers than the founder of Raindance, Elliot Grove.
He founded Raindance in 1992, and the British Independent Film Awards in 1998. He has produced 5 features and over 700 short films. As author he has written 3 industry standard texts: Raindance Producers’ Lab: Lo-to-no Budget Filmmaking, Raindance Writers’ Lab, and 150 Projects To Get You Get You Into Filmmaking. As an educator he founded and designed the pathway for the Raindance Film School. In 2009 he was awarded a PhD for services to education.
