What you will learn

Intro to Film Legals – key rights and contracts: basics – Thursday 21 May, 19:00 – 20:00 UK Time

Series 2 Session 1 is a revision lecture for those who attended season 1 and an intro for those new to the Legal Lockdown Lectures.  A finished film is generally a collaborative work that relies on numerous contributions and which also comprises a collection of ‘rights’.  Unless each participant and provider of rights has a clearly agreed set of terms, trouble may loom.  In this session we will consider the principal rights arising in relation to a film and how to ensure by way of agreement that each party knows what it is that is expected of each other and, where applicable, without the need for excessive formality.
  • Key rights in a film; copyright, moral right, performers’ rights
  • Creation and ownership of copyright
  • Commissioning
  • The basics of making a contract
  • Collaboration agreements

    Tony Morris was great!

  2. Emma-Louise Smith

Honestly brilliant, not at all what I was expecting! I thought it would be like other webinars I’ve attended where it’s quite impersonal and your questions don’t really get answered, but it wasn’t like that at all! It was more like a small class lecture- Tony was brilliant at taking questions along the way to help make everything as clear as possible, and all the information was easily understood as someone with no prior legal knowledge. The content itself was easy to follow as the PowerPoint was sent to us prior to the session.
