10 Vine Stars You Should Be Following in 2015 - Raindance

Later this month Vine, the six-second video sharing app, will be celebrating its second birthday. Whilst its ever increasing popularity means that the site currently boasts over 40 million registered users, this can make it a little difficult to know where to start when it comes to following the good’uns. So we thought we’d lend you a helping hand and name 10 of the biggest and most interesting Vine stars pegged for big things in 2015!

1. Nash Grier: 10.8 million followers

Nash is officially the most popular person on Vine. Mainly comedy sketches and collaborations with his friends and fellow Viners, Grier’s videos have garnered him millions of followers and fans. Only 16 years old, his short videos also landed him a role alongside other Vine stars in the movie Expelled, which charted at number 1 on iTunes last year.

2. Brittany Furlan: 8.2 million followers

If Nash Grier is the king of Vine, then Brittany Furlan is undoubtedly the queen. She’s the most followed woman on the site, and her entertaining Vines have scored her a sketch comedy show produced by Seth Green. Furlan cooks up some hilarious skits and wacky reoccurring characters- look out for Natalie Nature and Ghetto Dora De Explora.

3. Marcus Johns: 5.7 million followers

Although he’s previously played roles in movies including Rock of Ages, it’s Johns’ Vines that have really catapulted him into stardom. Pranks, comedy sketches and collaborations, his videos and bizarre sense of humour have made him another of Vine’s most popular users.

4. Thomas Sanders: 4.8 million followers

As his videos titled “Story Time” demonstrate, Sanders has a talent for improvisation. Playing innocent pranks on unsuspecting members of the public, Sanders narrates their actions as though he is a voice over in a film. Fun and silly, his videos are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

5. Simply Sylvio: 262.9k followers.

Simply Silvio’s Vines combine reality with artfully edited fantasy scenes to create some of the most surreal videos on the app. Just to add to the weirdness, he’s also a gorilla.

6. Matt Swinsky: 82k followers

Whilst the vast majority of popular Vine stars make comedy videos, Swinsky has opted for the horror genre. Weird, gory and full of cool visual effects, Swinsky’s Vines pack a whole lot of action and story-telling into six seconds.

7. Manon Mathews: 1.6 million followers

Mathew’s Vines feature comedy skits and impressions (she does a killer Kristen Stewart) that wouldn’t be out of place on Saturday Night Live. Her quick wit and knack for impersonations are unsurprising when you consider the fact that she received her training at Chicago’s Second City where comedy giants and SNL heroes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler also attended.

8. Khoa: 71.6k followers

Khoa’s Vines demonstrate just how much time, talent and effort can go into a single video. It takes up to several months of hard graft to produce one six-second clip of his cute and amusing stop motion paper animations.

9. Robby Ayala: 3.1 million followers

Ayala is 23 year old college grad from Florida whose observational style of comedy has documented his life for the past two years. Relatable and bags of fun, his Vines cover everything from long lines in Chipotle to the pains of living with bad roommates.

10. Danorst: 31.4k followers

Danorst’s Vines are simple but beautiful. He commonly produces time lapses of landscapes and skylines, giving viewers a six second burst of LA sunshine no matter where they are in the world.
