Nadia DiMofte - Regional Director

Nadia is an Emerging Filmmaker and she started volunteering with Raindance Vancouver in the fall of 2013. By spring she became a member after taking most of the amazing courses/workshops offered by the local chapter. Now she is enthusiastically running Raindance Vancouver with the help of a few dedicated and talented volunteers. 2014 was the year when Nadia took her first short (FRaiLNeSS) she wrote and directed to Festival de Cannes, where it premiered at the Short Film Corner and where she managed to sign a distribution deal. Nadia is dedicated to supporting the independent filmmakers in achieving their goals and completing their projects, and it is her mission to make it easier for them in Vancouver through Raindance, by creating opportunities for them where they could learn from the best, share experiences and info with peers and encourage emerging filmmakers.

Derek Hakkim - Video Production Manager

After almost a decade of working in the finance and software development industry in Toronto, Derek realized that success did not mean happiness. So he quit his job, sold his house and car, and traveled around the world with everything he owned in his backpack for a year to 30 countries while making silly videos and busking with a guitar in a cow suit!  Upon returning back home, large media companies started buying his silly travel videos and featuring his clips on TV, and he found a new calling in film. By combining his business, IT, project management, music and video production experience, Derek has created a new videography company based in Vancouver, produces indie films, does cinematography, and creates fresh and exciting video content with Raindance as well!
